On Set With The Women Of "The Real L Word"

We got another sneak peek at the the women of "The Real L Word" the other night after "Nurse Jackie." In the clip, they discuss how their friends would describe them, when they first realized they like girls, their biggest turn-ons and turn-offs, and the craziest places they've had sex (which, it turns out, are places just as unexciting as that question).

Be sure to tune in next week after "The United States of Tara" for a clip of the girls playing "I Never."

Yeah, I'm kidding. I hope.

Meet The Journalists Who Exposed George Rekers

South Florida Gay News introduces the world to Brandon K. Thorp and Penn Bullock, the men who exposed George Rekers.  Bravo, boys!

Wilton Manors residents Brandon K. Thorp, 27, and Penn Bullock, 21, met on My Space three years ago but only in the last week has their relationship reached the cosmos.

Last week, Thorp, who usually writes the theater column for Miami New Times, joined with his partner, Bullock, to break the story that a young male hooker from Miami had gone on a ten day European vacation with Dr. George Rekers, a founder of the rabidly anti-gay Family Research Council, and a board member of NARTH, the notorious National Association for the Research and Treatment of Homosexuality.

Dr. Rekers is not just anyone. He is a nationally reputed leader of the ex-gay movement who has authored books and campaigned vigorously that homosexuality can be cured. Republican Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Bill McCollum actually paid him almost $120,000.00 of taxpayer money to be a star witness for the State of Florida in the legal case seeking to defend state statutes banning gay adoption.

When the story by Thorp and Bullock went public on Thursday, it skyrocketed into the national news. Truth Wins Out Executive Director Wayne Besen issued a press release condemning the hypocrisy of Rekers. The Human Rights Campaign chimed in as well. Gay bloggers chipped in their two cents, and national news organizations reached out all seeking exclusive and unique angles. Neither Bullock nor Thorp nor the 20 year old escort, whose identity they tried to protect, was ready for it. The story took on a life of its own.

A gay blog site, Unzipped.net, was dissatisfied that the New Times feature refused to reveal the hooker’s true identity, identified by Thorp and Bullock only as ‘Lucien’ in their article. Using the Rentboy search engine, they used the physical characteristics described in their article to track down a photo of the young man, whose picture they then published, along with his Rentboy.com ad.

Thorp and Bullock went about the task of writing their story methodically. First, it was not Roman that tipped them off to the lead the young man was in Europe with Rekers. Instead, it was a friend of Roman’s, who was an ‘authorized user’ of his e-mail account. Apparently, while reviewing Roman’s contacts, he came upon the escort’s famous client, and contacted his friend, Bullock. His goal was to expose Rekers, a married man, for hiring a male escort.

Bullock and Thorp immediately recognized the significance of their quarry, and the potentially explosive nature of the story. They arranged to secretly be at the airport with a camera when Rekers arrived, and snapped the now famous photos of Rekers standing over his luggage, with Roman in the background.

The Good News For "The Real L Word"? The Bar Is Low

Last night, Showtime gave us a sneak peek (video below) at its new lesbian reality show, "The Real L World," which premieres on June 20, at 10pm.

Yep, round two is nearing, so let's all hope that we can live, love and laugh, but not lose this time.

In the "Behind the Scenes" video, we're given an up close and personal look at the characters we got merely a glimpse of in April, the women who will replace Bette, Tina, Alice, Shane, Jenny, et al. I won't rehash, because you probably have eyes and ears and at least one unoccupied little finger to click the play button below to see for yourself. But I will tell you this: The very first line of the script — "From the creator of The L Word..." — turned me off. And although predictable, those seven words add up to nothing good.

Ilene Chaiken is still living a fairy tale in which she gets to make up her own reality and resume. Even though I reminded her and all of you last year that she had more than a little help creating "The L Word," she's just going to go on ignoring that giant detail.

Oh, Ilene, there's a perfect word to describe your stubborn ways, and it rhymes with 'fociopath.'

That said, the good news is that the bar for lesbian reality shows couldn't be set much lower (thanks to the cast  of Logo's "Gimme Sugar"), so rising above it shouldn't be hard. The bad news is there's just enough air between the floor and that bar to cause me a great deal of concern.

The Lesbian Grass Is Always Greener, Especially When It's (Kate) Moss

Courtney Love was on the Howard Stern Show this morning and admitted to his crew, including Robin Quivers, that she once had a lesbian one-night stand with a supermodel.

Which one? Well, the woman she described sounds a lot like Kate Moss.

Love: "My only one on one was — I was out of my mind — was the supermodel. And she's notoriously, pretty much gay. And that's because every girlfriend I have in London has had sex with her. So, some time in the 90s, sometime late 90s, um, I was in an Italian city with her and she pretty much chased me around the room. Literally, like she was the aggressor. And I thought: ' You know what? If you're gonna do it, do it with that one. Do it with that one.' It wasn't Naomi Campbell for god's sakes ... It's just like a hot supermodel."

Stern: "You're talking someone as hot as like a Gisele [Bundchen]?"

Love: "Older than Gisele, but perennial."

Stern: "Like an Elle McPherson beautiful?"

Love: "Prettier " [imitating the unnamed supermodel's British accent]: "Remember when we were in Milan?"

Quivers: "Kate Moss!"

Love [after long silence]: "Noooo. That's not true."

Stern: "You got it on with Kate Moss."

Love: "I was really really wasted. I don't remember much, I just remember waking up in the morning and looking at this face ... It was so feline and beautiful and she was asleep and I was like 'Oh my God'."

Stern: "It's a major notch on your belt."

Love: "I don't want to out anyone who doesn't want to be outed."

 

Premature Ejaculation Sufferers, Come Quick!

In the world of commas, placement is everything.

But, in a world full of malfunctioning penises, well, there are pills for what ails. And one more has been added to the market.

Why be just an innocent and messy bystander to your love life when you can last a full six minutes instead of just two?:

The UK is bracing itself for the release of the first pill designed to end premature ejaculation.

Medical trials have shown that just one tablet of the drug Priligy can make men last up to three times as long during sexual intercourse. ...With the use of the drug, men can have more an active role over when they climax.

Up to 30% of men have reported problems with premature ejaculation. The pills are already on sale in some European countries.

Nitin Makadia, head of male sexual health at British pharmacy chain Lloyds, said, "Priligy has the potential to do as much for men's sexual health as Viagra."

The pill is not without side effects however, with warnings of dizziness, headaches and feeling restless.

Also, unfortunately for booze hounds, the pill is not supposed to be taken with alcohol — which makes sense, at $118 for 3 pills, you probably can't afford to drink anyway.

Will Gheen To Sen. Graham: Let's Make A Deal — You Be Gay And I'll Be A Racist Dick

On April 17, William Gheen (pictured, right), a racist clown and the president of an organization called Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), spoke at a Greenville, South Carolina, Tea Party rally about illegal immigration, border control and how South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham's sexuality figures into the immigration 'problem.'  

You see, in the interest of political integrity and national security, Gheen addressed Graham's homosexuality in his speech, demanding that Graham, the lone Republican in the Senate trying to lobby other Republicans to sponsor the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Amnesty bill, come out publicly.

In the clip below, which according to RightWingWatch.org  "is out of proper context ... has already gone viral on YouTube and been reported by Keith Olbermann on MSNBC without proper permissions or attributions," Gheen says the following (at around 7:10 in):

"Sometimes I wonder what it would take for a person to sell their own country out ... And there's one thing that it could be that I'm gonna put out in the open here today. It's a secret that Lindsey Graham has. It's no secret in Washington D.C.. The Democrats know this secret. ... The general public doesn't know this secret. I hope this secret isn't being used as leverage over Senator Graham. So today I'm saying, 'Senator Graham, you need to come forward and tell people about your alternative lifestyle and your homosexuality. Come out of that closet, Lindsey. Come out of that Log Cabin closet. Barney Frank is more honest and brave than you. ... I'm a tolerant person. I don't care about your private life, Lindsay. But as a U.S. Senator, I need to figure out why you're trying to sell out your own countrymen, and I need to be sure you being gay isn't it. ...'

Wow. What a load of crap! Nice try, Mr. America, but me thinks you left your white robe and pointy hat at Timothy McVeigh's Bed 'n Breakfast and Rent-A-Car-Bomb Emporium.

Or, as the Dallas Voice put it this morning, "Really? You don’t care about his “private sexual life?” But proving [Graham's gay] explains why he supports reforming the broken immigration laws? Because if he’s gay, he’s automatically in favor of illegal immigration? And just what is a “closet inside that log cabin?” A snotty reference to LGBT Republicans or a skewed view of Abe Lincoln’s luxurious suburban upbringing in a mini-mansion made of logs? Making deals to hide being gay? That’s so 1970s."

And so sleazy.
